ISRAELI PAVILION, WORLD EXPO2012, YEOSU, SOUTH KOREA

The Israeli Pavilion, titled “Sea of Inspiration,” was designed and produced by DISKIN for EXPO 2012 in Yeosu, South Korea. Through a breathtaking underwater journey, the pavilion offered an interactive and immersive presentation of Israel’s unique maritime world—ranging from guided tours of ancient underwater archaeological sites to water sports and leisure activities. Visitors experienced the wonders beneath the sea using a dedicated mobile application that brought the exhibition to life through their smartphones.

Entry into the Sea of Inspiration led visitors through an illuminated corridor adorned with photographs from Israel’s diverse marine landscapes: from strolls along the Mediterranean coastline, through surfing on the Sea of Galilee and floating freely in the Dead Sea, to deep-sea diving in the Red Sea—guiding them all the way into the depths of the pavilion itself. The central role of light in shaping the experience was emphasized through the pavilion’s façade design, created by renowned Israeli lighting artist Ayala Zarfaty.
